Celebrate the positive impact of apprenticeships
At IQD, we have long valued the mutually beneficial nature of apprenticeships. They provide young people with real-life working opportunities while they work towards valuable accreditations at college. It's a win-win situation! Apprentices learn and earn simultaneously, and we gain a trained member of our team.
Currently, at IQD we are helping a number of students from Yeovil College work through their apprenticeships and T-Levels, in IT Support, Engineering, Business and, Quality Assurance.
Grace is currently the Quality Assurance Apprentice at IQD and is studying for a Level 3 Business Admin Apprenticeship through Yeovil College. Commencing in 2024, Grace will complete her apprenticeship in June 2026, if not sooner.
“Joining IQD I had no experience with any sort of business activities or how a business runs. Being physically part of the business contrasts with any exposure to business practices I had been taught previously. However, ever since arriving at IQD I have learnt actual business practices, felt welcome and have settled in quickly with my team dynamic. The business course running alongside my job within IQD is an excellent match and I feel fully supported by both college and work.
I hope to continue working at IQD for the foreseeable future and further my career development with them.”
Part of IQD’s IT Support Team, Andris is currently working towards an HND/Level 5 Computing Apprenticeship.
“I have been a computing ‘geek’ since I continued my studies into Yeovil College, where I have completed my T-Level in Digital Production, Design, and Development, and Higher National Certificate / Level 4 in Computing. I have decided to move to an apprenticeship, which is where I have managed to become a member of the IQD’s IT team. Since both HNC and HND in Computing courses cover a variety of topics, my experience with IQD has been very rewarding so far, taking my knowledge from my studies and utilizing them at work and vice versa. In addition to academic improvements, I have become a lot more social and have made friends within their very friendly environment in the span of 6 months. Once I complete my apprenticeship, I will likely take a gap year, which I will spend working at IQD.”
