A 43% Emissions Reduction - 2024, Our Best Year Yet!
Our carbon footprint for 2024 has dropped by 43% compared to 2023 – a reduction of over 234 tonnes of CO2e. This is a huge step forward in our sustainability journey, and it's all thanks to the collective efforts of every team, department, and individual across IQD.
What’s Behind the Reduction?
Our total emissions dropped from 541,232 kgCO2e in 2023 to 306,508 kgCO2e in 2024. The biggest contributors to this reduction were changes in our supply chain, freight, and procurement activities.
Here’s How We Did It:
🚚 Supply Chain: We’ve cut supply chain emissions by 66%, saving nearly 148 tonnes of CO2e. note that some of these savings stem from reduced spend (and not necessarily lower intensity).
📦 Freight & Procurement: Shipping and goods procurement together saw a 37% and 28% reduction, respectively.
🚗 Business Travel & Commuting: Note that some of these savings stem from reduced spend (and not necessarily lower intensity).
What Went Up?
Not everything decreased – and that’s okay. Our electricity usage increased by 23%, as we transitioned away from oil-based heating at our main premises. While this raised emissions in the short term, it’s a positive shift toward cleaner, more efficient energy use in the long run.
What’s Next?
Our next step is to build on this momentum:
🎯 Review and refine supply chain engagement
🎯 Embed sustainability deeper into procurement and travel decisions
🎯 Continue tracking emissions to drive meaningful change
Let’s celebrate this achievement – but let’s also stay focused. Sustainability isn’t a finish line; it’s a mindset.
Here’s to an even greener 2025!
