Disciplined or GPS Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillators
Disciplined or GPS Oven Controlled Crystal Oscillators
GNSS Disciplined OCXOs (aka GNSSDO, GPSDO, GPS clocks or DOs), are advanced clock modules which provide electrical timing functionality for distributed network systems. They combine an OCXO with a software algorithm to provide 1pps (pulse per second) timing synchronization based on the signal received from GNSS satellite systems.
Disciplined OCXOs offer a highly reliable failsafe signal after loss of lock to the GNSS signal caused by interruptions due to bad weather, jamming or loss of view of enough constellation satellites as they exhibit a holdover capability.
This holdover function guarantees a continuous 1pps signal until GNSS is restored giving reassurance and reliability of continuous signal and synchronization so critical to many applications, including PNT, 4G/5G base stations, IP backhaul, clock servers, PTP servers, smart power grids, Transparent Clocks and MiFID II Compliance during GNSS outage.
IQD’s disciplined OCXOs are LTE compatible and are available with or without a GPS receiver.
