LVDS oscillator sets the pace for high-data-throughput computer networking applications
Posted: 11th November 2008

Electronica, Munich, 11-14 November 2008: Hall B6, Stand 264 - IQD Frequency Products announces the CFPS-60, a new SPXO (simple packaged crystal oscillator) with LVDS output for use in computer networking equipment and peripherals such as switches, hubs, routers and network interface cards.
The high-speed, low-power-dissipation characteristics of LVDS (low-voltage differential signalling) suit the CPFS-60 well to applications with very high data throughput. Data integrity is supported by fast signal rise and fall times of just 0.7ns (20% to 80%), compared to typically 5 or 6ns for a low-cost HCMOS SPXO. Phase jitter is suitably low at a maximum of 1ps RMS (12kHz to 20MHz).
The CFPS-60 offers a range of output frequencies from 75.0MHz to 170.0MHz - high for a low-cost device - and frequency stabilities of 25, 50 or 100ppm over operating temperature ranges of -40°C to +85°C (industrial) or -10°C to +70°C (general purpose). Shock and vibration qualification to Mil-Std-202F allows for use in both industrial environments and portable equipment.
The CFPS-60 comes as a 7 x 5mm SMD and can be supplied in tape-and reel format for automatic placement. It operates from a 3.3V supply and has tristate functionality as standard.
