Ultra low phase noise, low jitter clock oscillatorThe new CXOXLPN series clock oscillator launched by IQD offers excellent low phase noise of typically -162dBc/Hz at 1MHz frequency offset and -149dBc/Hz at 1kHz. Combined with a low jitter of 151fs rms max (over 12kHz to 20MHz) at 25MHz this miniature clock oscillator has been designed primarily for avionics, industrial, medical and military applications such as smart munitions, navigation, GPS, wireless telemetry, communications, transponders and test and diagnostic equipment.

Housed in a miniature 3.2 x 2.5 x 0.95mm hermetically sealed ceramic package, the new device is available with a frequency tolerance of ±50ppm and frequency stabilities down to ±50ppm over the full military temperature range of -55 to 125 degrees C. Tighter stability at ±30ppm can be specified over the industrial temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees C. The new device has a frequency range of 20 to 50MHz with a 15pF CMOS drive capability and a choice of four supply voltages; 3.3V, 3.0V, 2.5V and 1.8V providing compatibility with the latest generation of low power chipsets. The CXOXLPN is also able to survive shock levels of up to 50,000G, vibration levels of 20g at 10-2000Hz swept sine and it has a low acceleration sensitivity of 0.5ppb/g.

Variants which incorporate enable/disable and tri-state control are also available. All variants can be specified with a number of termination finishes including tin/lead in applications where using a RoHS-compliant device would cause approval issues. However RoHS-compliant finishes are also available for commercial applications. Duty cycle is 45% min and 55% max with a start-up time of 5ms max and a rise and fall time of 6ns max. Packaging options are tray pack or tape and reel.
